10U - Red/Orange/Green Ball
At Mountainside Racquet Club, we believe that tennis is a sport for everyone, and that includes our youngest players! Our 10U Tennis System Junior Academy is designed to introduce children to the basics of the game in a fun, engaging way that encourages a lifelong love of tennis.

Advanced Junior Program/High School Training

High Performance - Fall 2025
Designed for top-level junior players, the High Performance Program at Mountainside Racquet Club provides an elite training environment for players looking to compete at the highest levels. Training focuses on advanced stroke mechanics, match strategy, tournament preparation, fitness, and mental toughness. Level 1
Red Ball
Details: Red Ball is the first level of the 10U youth progression program which utilizes a larger, soft compression tennis ball on a smaller tennis court with a lower net. Children will begin to develop their athletic and hand-eye coordination skills through specific drills which focuses on footwork and stroke development. Children who complete the Red Ball program will have a basic understanding of stroke mechanics as well as being able to direct their shot, and sustain a rally with coaches and fellow students. Level 2
Orange Ball
Details: Orange Ball is the second level of the 10U youth progression, and children entering the program will have developed all of the Red Ball program skills. The Orange Ball program utilizes a decompressed tennis ball on a smaller tennis court with a regular net. The program consists of drills to improve their tennis stroke mechanics and movement skills. Additionally, the program introduces live ball play to develop their point play skills. Graduates of the program will demonstrate the ability to consistently serve, understand tennis scoring, and rally with other students on a modified tennis court. Level 3
Green Ball
Details: Green Ball is the third level of the 10U youth progression and is played on a full-sized tennis court with a regular sized, lower compression tennis ball. Students in the program are beginning to develop a mastery of tennis stroke mechanics with a focus on rallies and point play. Students graduating from the program will be able to do cooperative drills, rally from the baseline, and be able to play a tennis match set on a regulation size tennis court. Advanced Green Ball
Details: Advanced Green Ball is designed for the student who is proficient in all Green Ball skills and wishes to compete in USTA tournaments. For participation in the program, students must have an evaluation and are expected to be able to rally and serve with consistency. In the Advanced Green Program, students will gain the ability to train cooperatively, learn how to hit with spin, and develop tennis strategy. Level 4 | Advanced Junior Program
Details: The Advanced Junior Program is designed for the mid-level player who has graduated from our Green Ball program and is approximately 10-16 years old. The clinic is combination of drilling and hitting and is geared towards improving a player’s stroke mechanics and point production. Level 5 | High School Training
Details: The Highschool Training Program clinic is designed to improve a player’s skills for match and tournament competition. The drills used in this clinic will improve a player’s shot selection, so they develop reliable shot patters in tough situations which should improve their chances of winning. Level 6 | High Performance
The High Performance program is designed for the fully committed, tournament-level player who wishes to compete at the highest level. The program consists of four levels, each with specific criteria for qualification. All levels require approval by Steve Ondish steveo@mrctennis.com.

High Performance 2: Requires a flat 7.5 or higher UTR and Tennis Recruiting Ranking
Requirements: High Performance 1 & 2 need three clinic days plus the Friday Tournament Warmup or the Monday and Tuesday High Performance Program plus the Friday Warmup.
Junior High Performance and Yellow Ball require two clinic days plus the Friday Tournament Warmup.
