Steve is leading the charge in trying to change the way tennis is taught. With his many years of experience in tennis and tennis-specific fitness he has managed to create a proven system that has turned out hundreds of sectionally, nationally, collegiate, and professionally ranked players. With Steve’s Tennis Systems you can become the best player you can be. Now that he has assumed the role as Director of Tennis at Mountainside Racquet Club, he is turning this facility into more than just a club, he is building an incredible environment that will allow you to be your absolute best.

 Zef Lekaj, General Manager

 

Zef has over a decade of experience in Tennis Club Management and Marketing.  Prior to partnering with Mountainside Racquet Club, Zef’s highly successful track record included helping to open Sportime Randall’s Island and launch the prestigious John McEnroe Tennis Academy in Manhattan; managing Sportime sites on Long Island; and marketing the company’s Professional World Team Tennis team, as part of a league owned by legend Billie Jean King.

Zef has an unparalleled ability to attract the highest level of tennis teaching professionals and a near legendary reputation among tennis players for outstanding customer service.  There is perhaps nobody better positioned in the industry to help Mountainside Racquet Club members achieve their tennis playing goals while enjoying a five-star tennis experience

  Geza Bazula – Assistant Tennis Director

 

Geza started playing tennis in Hungary at the age of 7 and never looked back. After reaching the ranking of #2 he left Hungary and moved to the United States to train and compete in ITF and futures circuit tournaments. When he finished competing on tour he started teaching tennis and has now been an instructor for over 11 years and is both USPTA P-1 and 10 & under certified. With his experience, he knows how to bring anybody’s game to the next level. Prior to joining our club, Geza had been working as the head tennis professional at Dunakeszi Tennis Club. With Geza’s deep knowledge and experience, he will have you playing your best before you know it.

Gary Wasserman – Tournament Director

Gary has been teaching tennis for over 25 years and has been a certified PTR tennis instructor since 2002 so he knows how to take your game to the next level. He is currently the tennis coach for both the boys and girls varsity tennis programs at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School. He has excelled in this position and has managed to win a number of local awards including Tennis Coach of the year for Union County in 2007, 2012, and 2013. Gary loves teaching tennis not only for the competition but also for the social aspect of the game, allowing him to meet new and interesting people while giving him a chance to have a positive influence on their life.

Howard Sherman– Director of 10 & Under Tennis


Howard is the new up and coming pro here at MRC. He has been working with the Director of Tennis, Steve Ondish, on both his teaching and his own game for the past 10+ years and is ready to start bringing his knowledge to you. Howard does more than teach tennis at MRC and is also in charge of the website, racquet stringing, and much of the backend at the club. He has been the swiss army knife of MRC and a valuable part of our transition to new management. We are excited to see just how much Howard can bring to both the club and your game!

 VolleyFH  Ramy Rizk, Master Pro

 

Ramy is no stranger to the tennis world. After playing #1 at MIT and competing in the ATP Satellite Circuit he has learned exactly what it takes to make you a great tennis player. Ramy has 20+ years of tennis teaching experience and is currently teaching around Westfield and the neighboring areas. After working with Steve for longer than he cares to admit, he has a great understanding of the Director’s Tennis Systems. Ramy’s deep love for the game has allowed him to continually improve and learn as both a coach and a person and is eager to share with you what he has learned, including Steve’s Tennis Systems.
